Review: Dark Passion by Sara Reinke

I'm a lover of all books vampire but this series is a very, very good series! This series is a must read for any and all vampire lovers. Dark Passion is the third in her Brethren series, so make sure to read the first two books before or else you might get lost! LOL

I give this book:

Here is the blurb for this book:

'Augustus Noble is a man with secrets. His entire life has been built on half-truths, betrayals and lies-desperate measures to keep the woman he loves, Eleanor Trevilian-Noble, as his own. The patriarch of the Brethren, he has struggled for centuries to create an empire of wealth and prestige for her. Now all that he has fought for is in jeopardy-his grandson Brandon has risked it all in a desperate bid for independence and freedom. And just as Augustus can't allow Brandon to escape the ages-old traditions of the Brethren race, he also can't let the Brethren-and especially his longtime nemesis-discover a truth that, if revealed, would see them all killed.

Eleanor's Brethren birthright should have insured a life of longevity, while her marriage to the ruling clan should have guaranteed one of unsurpassed privilege and luxury. But a disease which has secretly been ravaging the Brethren for generations now afflicts her as well. Her prognosis is grim, her life all but forfeit. For nearly two hundred years, she has loved Augustus Noble, a shared passion that defied even the most sacred of Brethren laws. By that love, he forced her to leave; to protect her, he broke her heart. Now she must return to the sprawling expanse of Kentucky farmland she once called home, back to the Brethren compound to save not only her grandson but Augustus, as well. Because if she doesn't-if she somehow should fail, then everything they know will be destroyed, including their love.'

My Review:

What I really loved about each of Sara Reinke's books was that they were each told for the different POV of the characters and really gave you the chance to see the BIG picture! This book really had a lot more to do with Augustus Noble, who is the most dominant of the clans of the Brethren. We do see a lot that revolves around Brandon and Lina and Tess and Rene, but now we meet new characters - Eleanor, the wife of Augustus, Michel, Tristan, Naima, all vampires from a clan that had been supposedly killed by fire.

Sara really gives us the whole backgrounds around the Brethren and the Noble clan itself. And really what had started the change in the downhill thinking that the Tomes had set for the clans and what they were supposed to believe. But as the story twisted and turned this way and that, it was amazing to see the history that had laid around these characters and really how deep rooted the story was. They weren't just characters on the page, they had centuries of histories and loves and lives. Amazing! Truly amazing!

The plot in itself, did revolve around Brandon, all the while Tessa, Rene and Lina are trying to figure out what happened to him and if the Elders got him, what they could possibly do. But Sara tied it all nice and neat into a little bow at the end of this book. I wonder what may happen next, or is this the last of the Brethren that we are going to see.

But I'll leave it up to you to go get this series and read it, cause it's extraordinary and will get you. hook, line and sinker!

Review: My Soul to Lose by Rachel Vincent

Now Rachel Vincent is one of my fave authors and when I read her blog about this book, well, let's say I just couldn't resist. Click here to learn from her blog on how to get your copy of the Prequel to My Soul to Take!

I give this book:

And here is the blurb for My Soul to Take:

'It was supposed to be a fun day, shopping at the mall with her best friend. Then the panic attack started and Kaylee Cavanaugh finds herself screaming, unable to stop. Her secret fears are exposed and it's the worst day of her life.

Until she wakes up in the psychiatric unit.

She tries to convince everyone she's fine--despite the shadows she sees forming around another patient and the urge to scream which comes burbling up again and again. Everyone thinks she's crazy. Everyone except Lydia, that is. Another patient with some special abilities....

An eBook exclusive prequel to Rachel Vincent's SOUL SCREAMERS series.'

My Review:

Wow! If this is the prequel to the series, then I can't wait for My Soul to Take! This was incredibly amazing! Right from the very first page, it had me hooked. Now I don't want to post an spoilers, but let me tell you - it was downright freaky and I couldn't imagine if something like that were to ever happen to me - well, I'd really hope that it wouldn't.

Now we all know Rachel from her Werecat series, but this is an entirely different world! Poor Kaylee, who everyone seems to think she's crazy, but yet she meets another girl, who seems to understand what's happening to Kaylee. Also this book gives you a little peek into My Soul to Take, so like I stated above, go to Rachel's blog to find out how to get your copy of this book and read it.

You'll end up hooked just like me!

Happy reading everyone!

Review: The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers by Angie Fox

Well, now I loved the first book in this series and I'm hopelessly in love with this one!

I give this book:

And here is the blurb from the back of The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers:

'Demon- slaying powers should come with an instruction book...Seriously. Why does a new hair dryer have a twelve page manual, but when it comes to ancient demon-fighting hocus-ppocus, my biker witch granny gives me just a half dozen switch stars and a rah-rah speech? Oh, and a talking terrier, but that's another story. It's not like my job as a preschool teacher prepared me for this kind of thing.

So I've decided to write my own manual, The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers, because no one tells me anything. Dimitri, my "protector," may be one stud of a shape-shifting griffin, but he always thinks he can handle everything by himself. Only he's no match for the soul-stealing succubi taking over Las Vegas. If I can't figure out how to save him - and Sin City - there'll be hell to pay.'

My Review:

Lizzie hasn't been a demon-slayer that long and now comes to find out she has to try and save her fairy godfather, Phil for the dangerous succubi that are in Las Vagas, but in doing so, is she putting her boyfriend, Dimitri in danger along with the rest of the Red Skulls - and why on Earth does she need a license for Demon-slaying? She didn't see that one coming!

This book is fun, full of action and fighting and plenty of demon slaying! Lizzie has grown (somewhat) into her powers, but still really has no clue what she is capable of. Needless to say she got a learner permit for Demon Slaying, but other than that. Well, we'll just leave that alone. Lizzie still refuses to swear and has some problems listening, but in the end, well, I'll leave that alone too. If you've read the book then you know what happens, but if not, I'm not going to tell you! LOL

Once again Angie Fox has done it with Lizzie, Granny, Pirate (her talking terrier), and all of the evil characters from the story. Who knew demons could try to over run Sin City and then attempt the rest of the world. The story moves quickly and the characters have grown and of course, Lizzie learns a lesson at the end. So if you think you'd like to give this book a try, go ahead, do it, cause it's a wonderful read!
