' Ray and Louise (Lolo) are two victims of separate, random murders. They meet in Dark San Diego, the parallel world between the living and the dead. It is a spirit world, unseen by the living, but it is every bit as real. In the spirit world are ghosts, vampires, ghouls, seraphs, angels, centaurs--all manner of beings from classical and green mythologies. A few living persons can speak with the dead--shamans like Johannes Rector of the News Compass bureau, which specializes in solving paranormal crimes, fixing what's broken, making little changes that repair shattered lives. Here in the spirit world, somber light falls like rain. Along the Shore Road (which doesn't exist in the world of the living), houses are built of gloom. Green and ruby coach lights shine dimly on the ghosts who hang around waiting for the mission that will set them free. Lolo and Ray are together, for a time, as ghost and ghostess. Then, as all things must end, the time comes for each to receive a mission leading to the next place.'

My Thoughts:
I thought this book was kind of strange as I first started reading it. It's told from the POV of a ghost, Ray, who is writing the book as time goes along about his experiences and his life previous.
At first he talks about Lolo, who was murdered while at work and her life and then he continues on to talk about his. Perhaps the reason I thought this was a little odd in the beginning was because I hadn't given it a chance to really understand what was going on, but as the story moved forward it all fell together.
In this particular book, it states that when you die and something was left undone or your not at rest, you wander the world. Which is what Ray and Lolo were doing. And their relationship went deeper than any living human could imagine. The dead know when something terrible is going to happen, because Ray has seen the ghosts crowd around the living waiting for something to happen.
John T. Cullen created a world full of the myths and lore that we have read and learned about in our lives, okay, well at least heard the stories. I mean really what happens to us when we die? Well, we probably will never know until that time comes. Perhaps when we die it will be something like what Mr. Cullen has stated here. Who knows. This book was wonderful, creative and full of interesting things. So if you want to read about the 'lives' of ghosts, then I suggest you give this a try!

This sounds good! I like the theme...
For being a semi short book, I thought it was pretty interesting, well, at least once I caught on as to who was telling the story. I can be a little slow sometimes! LOL
